1st check the engine ground.

I see you posted over on MGE Midget also. Jeff Schlemmer B-racer is the distributor expert, he should be able to step you through the problem.

New parts could be defective. Maybe try putting the old points back in.

1975 mg midget with Lucas 25 D distributor

i had heads redone, and while i was at it, i cleaned and painted the engince compartment real good because it was covered with undercoating. I used alot of gunk with water, and could have done a better job coveing distributor.

In any case after it was put back together , it wouldn't start. Was getting spark from coil but that's it. At first car wasn't grounded and i did see smoke coming from either points or from the distributor under the points. But points were very hot

I grounded car properly, redid all my connections and put in new fuse box.

REPLACED POINTS AND CONDENSOR AND ROTOR WITH ACCUSPARK ELECTRONIC IGNITION AND NEW LUCAS SPORTS COIL , new plugs and wires , even before i changed to electronic ignition

i still have same problem COIL GIVING OFF SPARK TO DIZZY CAP, BUT NO SPARK TO PLUGS

what should i do. could distributor have gone bad from all that engine compartment cleaning with gunk and water
